Our filter press cloths for industrial solid/liquid separation are well designed for various filter press models including plate and frame filter press, chamber filter press, belt filter press and vacuum filter. The material of the fabric range mainly includes: Monofilament fabric, Multifilament fabric & interwoven fabric.
Filter press works on a concept called batch filtration.
Example of Filter Press in a Waste Water treatment plant :
Phase 1 : Waste water flowing through a series of filter cloths, some solids/particles stay behind, “filter cake” starts to form. The filtrate (filtered waste water) that come out from the cloth, still cloudy
Phase 2 : the waste water continue to flow through filter cloths, but this time at reduce flow rate. This is due to the entrapment of solids at Phase I. More solids/particles being collected, “filter cake” is foming & getting bigger. Filtrate (filtered waste water) flow out from the cloth is relatively clearer than Phase I
Phase 3 : waste water continue but at this Phase, higher resistance due to the “filter cake”. More solids/particles are being trapped. Filtrate (filtered waste water) come out from the cloth is the clearest.
Phase 4 : the resistancy is high that the filtration is going to stop because of so much resistance caused by the “filter cake”. No or very less Filtrate (filtered waste water) are flowing out from the filter cloth. This is the stage of cleaning/flushing should be in place .
A sooner satisfactory filtration performance will all depends on how fast the filter cake is formed.
